BLUE Café: Data Assimilation in Coastal and Marine Modelling

The topic of this BLUE café is data assimilation in coastal and marine modelling. For 20 years data assimilation has been part of the coastal and marine MIKE 21/3 models. Recently, the data assimilation module has gone through a major revision with multiple enhancements allowing for a larger range of assimilation techniques, supported measurements and applications.

This webinar will show how assimilation can be applied in the spectral wave model MIKE 21 SW. It will demonstrate how assimilation can improve the skill of numerical sediment models during dredging activities and how chlorophyll and nutrients can be assimilated in the ecological model ECOLab.

In addition, the webinar will explain how ensemble modelling is handled in the data assimilation module and give a general overview of the main features.

Show up with a headset and avoid sunlight.

Looking forward to seeing you all!
